My Holistic Journey

So Far.....

I was asked by a group that I am a member of on facebook - Massage Matters to write about my massage journey (among other holistic treatments) so when I wrote it down I decided I would like to share it with my own page (sorry about the length)

My Massage Journey

I suppose to look forward I must start by looking back...

I went to college from school because that’s what you did. I enjoyed the experience but not the course I was studying – Environmental Health.

I had my first child when I was just 20 years old (in 2000). Little did I know that this was going to be the inspiration for a big chunk of my career in the future. Drawing from my experiences in pregnancy and labour I decided there was a need for more of a holistic approach when dealing with expectant mothers. I went on later to train as a Certified Ante Natal Instructor, a Baby Massage Instructor among other pregnancy related treatments.

Before I did any of these courses I worked as a trainee manager in a local supermarket and it was then that my daughter was diagnosed with congenital dislocated hip. This meant she needed operations and a full on cast. (From chest to toes)

I left my job to give her the care that she needed but with everything in life something better is always just around the corner….

My now husband saw an advertisement for a diploma course in Holistic Massage and Reflexology – that was it!! I didn’t care how much it cost or where I would find the money I signed up. (You will always find a way if you believe enough)

I studied hard and loved every minute, I continued training for other various holistic treatments including Indian Head Massage and my ante natal training. I worked part time to allow myself build up clients. In 2005 I went out on my own in a room in my house (eek!!)

Well it is now 2018 and I have another beautiful child, the ever supporting boyfriend became husband and I have a purpose built therapy centre beside my house. Having also branched into Rahanni energy healing while enjoying a great work life balance!

There are so many more plans for the future but I do know one thing that I have learnt over the years and that is - support and encouragement from family, friends and your peers is so important in every aspect of our personal and professional lives.

I hope you have enjoyed reading about “My Massage Journey” as much as I enjoyed writing it (quite therapeutic).
